Prayer
Prayer is a central part of school life at Christ Church Hanham. Whilst always invitational, prayer is offered as an opportunity for reflection as well as a core response to our daily lives.
Our School Prayer
In 2024, our whole school family were invited to contribute to the creation of a new school prayer which reflected our Christian vision of Nurture with love- Grow through knowledge and wisdom- Flourish in hope, our six core values and our motto of ‘Reaching high, dreaming big, filled with the fullness of God’s love.’ Our Collective Worship Captains, supported by Reverend Steve, skillfully incorporated a range of ideas for our new prayer which we were thrilled to launch with our school community in April 2024.

Values Prayer
Our Collective Worship Captains also worked with Reverend Steve to create six values prayers. Each one is linked to our value of the term and helps us to reflect upon, and respond to, our core value in daily worship time.
Opportunities for prayer
Alongside our school and values prayer, children and adults are offered many opportunities to engage in prayer within the life of our school. Collective Worship always begins with our school ‘Welcome to Worship’ and ‘Gathering Greeting’ prayers. At CCH, we also discuss the different types of prayer and what we might pray for. We use the prayer hand to support us with creating our own prayers. Children may record these in their class prayer books or lead our school in spontaneous prayer during whole school and class worship.
